Business Overview

A South Texas institution dedicated to preserving alternative historical narratives through fine art, digital media, and educational content. Built around the original paintings of artist Jack Gandesbery, the museum gained a passionate following before being shut down by platform moderators — and responded by archiving everything and launching a full e-commerce presence to keep the mission alive.

The Process

From Idea to Impact: Weblication Studios Journey in Platform Creation

1
Phase 1

Discovery & Research

Weblication Studios examined the museum’s audience and the problems it encountered after losing access to mainstream platforms. Through the museum's mission to preserve Jack Gandesbery’s original works and alternative history, we considered the user’s needs to gain access to the museum’s archived content, interact with the art, and buy art as well as museum merchandise online.

2
Phase 2

Design & Development

Our development focused on digitally exhibiting original paintings. We designed an interface that included user controlled, access to original paintings and digital online exhibits. Additionally, collections could be curated. The backend was developed to support real time updates and user online transactions. The system was developed with robust support for media and high traffic.

3
Phase 3

Integration of Technology & Features

Inclusivity features were built into the system. Designed to be fun, user friendly, and engaging, these features included achievement milestones, personalized collections, and interactive discussion areas. A Messaging feature was fully integrated, allowing visitors to post comments and engage in community discussions focused on the art.

4
Phase 4

Implementation & Testing

The system was designed for phased implementation. Each section of the system was thoroughly tested to ensure that it was ready for launch. Areas that were included are: community discussion areas, online exhibitions, online stores, and offers. This community focused design also provided a seamless experience and interactive system.

5
Phase 5

Support After an Implementation

The Weblication Studios team supports performance monitoring and user feedback collection. Improvements to support the museum’s mission of increasing community interaction and engagement and enhancing the user experience through online transactions are made on a regular basis.
